Skiing in Corvallis is ancient. Before WWII, there was a handcranked lift to the top of Mary's Peak, with a truck motor introduced after the War ended. The lift operated into the Seventies, when it was allowed to die as skiing in the Cascades and southern Oregon became accessible.
