"If I live until March 8, 1940, I will be eighty-seven years old, the mother of twelve children, eight of them living, all married and have families. As my journey is almost ended I am striving to enter in at the strait gate. The road is narrow and few there be that find it. I find Jesus near to comfort and cheer, just when I need him most." - Mrs. L. M. CALVERT; Corvallis Pioneer

My father was a Methodist preacher and preached the first sermon ever preached Benton County. He walked from Dallas to the Stewart home near Corvallis, had dinner after preaching, and then walked home again. He had to take off his shoes and socks to wade the sloughs. The only way of traveling, other than on foot was by ox team and that would have been slower." -Angeline BELEAU CARTER; Corvallis Pioneer

Moment Ministries

"One of the occasions of the winter would be the protracted religious services held in the school house. I remember an incident that happened at one of these that fixed itself on my mind. Old Uncle J--- was testifying in his slow deliberate manner. He testified to entire sanctification and said, 'I don't think I have ever sinned." When we boys reported this to our parents who had known Uncle J--- in Iowa they were quite sure he had forgotten some things." -Charles W. DAVIS; Corvallis Pioneer
